My Time so far at 43 has been great. I feel a part of the team already and I've only been here two months! I feel that having an amazing team around me really helped with that Tom Berridge and Adam have made me feel more than welcome. They integrated me really well and introduced me to everyone, as well as my buddy coming into 43 Jon Carrick I've loved the amount of responsibility and trust that Tom has given me from the get-go as he's already given me my first account lead and I've only been here full time 5 days with me being part-time beforehand. I think it really helps to have supportive directors such as Steve and Mike who also helped integrate me into 43. Overall, this has been the perfect first step in my career in digital marketing.
I have just finished university where I was studying for a master's in advertising and marketing. It all went really well, alongside my studies I was secretary and treasurer for my basketball team at university looking after all the social media accounts and monetary accounts while the year before I was Vice President. This year I'm the social sec of HUBC (Hull University Basketball Club). Mike and Steve have been very supportive of me doing this in conjunction with work as it won't take any effect on my work capabilities. I love being a part of the club and it was a big reason why I stayed at university if not for that club I would've dropped out.
Work uni balance was easy due to Tom and Steve being so understanding and only putting me on two days a week until my dissertation was complete. This allowed me to have 5 days a week to focus on my dissertation. This is something I was worried about happening as I wasn’t sure if this is something people would offer as I feel like I am being put above the business in a way. Ultimately they really helped by supporting me through the part-time process and understanding that my dissertation needed to be completed first.
Currently, I'm responsible for daily PPC optimisations, some weekly reports and some weekly optimisations. I also move between Tom & Adam helping them with whatever they need. I have also just been appointed account lead for one of our clients which is very exciting for me. I'm also very grateful for getting this responsibility so early in my time here. Day-to-day is usually daily ops first thing in the morning. Then I tend to move to any tasks that are outstanding for that day and then support Tom and Adam if they have any tasks
The biggest thing I've learnt so far is PPC as a whole (sorry that’s vague) because before this role I'd only done a few lectures on it and my basic research. This is due to the excellent tutoring of both Tom and Adam. Without exemplary training and treatment from them both, I wouldn’t be in the position to have the chance to become an account lead so definitely PPC as a whole
I didn’t think the office lifestyle would be as fun as it is and I can only factor that down to the amazing people at 43 who are all so friendly and helpful. They welcomed me from day one. This and the fact that the office is a communal space rather than everyone sitting at a singular desk as you see in most TV programs relating to offices. I also love WFH as well though as it allows me to just power through work.
The master was taught really well and was always interactive. Along the way, we covered so many different aspects of digital marketing including event marketing and IMC while also covering PR. The digital marketing module itself was the bit that got my attention the most. Full credit has to go out to Peter Andrews who was a phenomenal lecturer and made every lecture feel important as the next. You could tell he cared about his work which I don’t think you always get. His teaching style is a massive reason I have such an interest in digital marketing
