Introduction

Hopefully you’ve seen recently that we ran our third instalment of our in-person event, Power Hour. We’ve been running these events since last November and they’re beginning to shape into something really exciting. This blog aims to explain exactly what these events are all about and what goes into getting them to run smoothly each time.

If you haven’t seen what I’m talking about, then let me explain just exactly what the Power Hour is.

What is Power Hour?

Power Hour is an in-person marketing insights event, which consists of three external speakers who each deliver a 20 minute presentation around a topic. Each one of these talks provides actionable insights which you can take away and apply to your business. Here at 43 Clicks North we believe in sharing our knowledge to the community, so therefore the premise of the day is to fill up the room with local marketing talent who can all share their opinions on topics as well as learning something new. After the presentations there is the opportunity to network for an hour, as well as the all important free pizza!

Planning

The Power Hour has become an important part of my role at 43 Clicks North. Since joining just over a year ago I’ve been given a lot of autonomy over the organisation of the event itself and the assets we create around it. In terms of the planning of the event it is my role to reach out to potential speakers and discuss topics or themes they would like to share with an audience. Before then setting the date and booking the room at Social on Humber Street. Next comes the development of marketing materials using headshots of the speakers and their titles.

Following this we have to make sure we fill the room. This involves a number of posts on social media promoting the event with the link for tickets. As well as messaging a large number of marketing managers, businesses and other agency members who we’d love to see there (yes it’s me, the annoying guy in your dm’s!). For all 3 Power Hour's that we have hosted so far, we’ve had awesome turnouts so thank you to everyone that has attended!

During the event we always record the talks which are posted on our site and YouTube, whilst also taking a number of photos which become the basis for future marketing materials.

We've had some awesome feedback from attendees and speakers which makes it all worthwhile, it's been a pleasure being so involved in it's organisation. A huge shoutout has to go to the speakers and hosts who have delivered some amazing presentations and allowed everyone to wallk away with new exciting concepts and ideas.
